Arrival in Turkey!
Assalamualaikum, readers!
As I'm writing this, I have just completed a 14-hour trip, from Kuala Lumpur, to Muscat in Oman, to Istanbul in Turkey! The flight times combined may have been only 14 hours, but we woke up as early as 4.30 am to get ready...
By 5.30 am, our taxi arrived to take my family to the airport - my mom, my dad, my brother and I. We had packed 14 days of necessities into three huge bags and two backpacks. It's going to be a loooong vacation. I'll keep you updated along the way!
Our first flight would head to Muscat, Oman, at 9.30 am. After praying and breakfast at the food court, we headed to our gate and boarded. Since it would be a long flight (7 hours), the seats have little TV's and earphones were provided. All four of us sat in the middle, between the two aisles. I spent those seven hours watching a few movies (The Boss Baby and Toy Story 4) and writing ideas for a story I'm writing. Yusuf didn't sleep at all, even though he woke up much earlier than usual. I didn't sleep either, most likely because my body clock told me I shouldn't be sleepy yet.

The transit at Oman was about two hours. We wanted to buy food, but we ran out of time and hurried to our gate. Local time wa around 2.30 pm when the flight departed for a 5-hour flight to Istanbul. The flight this time was smaller, but it had more movies for me to choose from! I still ended up watching only two, and even then, I couldn't finish one of them (What Happened to Monday? And I am Mother). I particularly enjoyed looking out the window; I didn't get the window seat but there was an empty seat by the window so I welcomed myself to sit there. The view of Turkey from above was spectacular, I ended up spending the remaining time of the flight taking pictures outside!

We arrived at around 7pm local time and we could feel the chilly breeze of the night in Istanbul. It was quite refreshing for me, not too cold, jut how I like it. We boarded a bus and spent another hour to be taken to our hotel. I finally saw Hagia Sophia with my own eyes! The area seems to be a tourist attraction by itself, and so this hotel is strategic to stay in for three nights.
Now it's already 11pm and I'm exhausted, but I wanted to share how our trip went for today. We had kebab for dinner and now cosying ourselves up in this hotel room. I'll try to write again tomorrow, inshaAllah. Till then! Assalamualaikum.
