Uludag and Trip to Kusadasi!

Assalamualaikum! It's currently quite late here but if I don't write now I might forget what happened. Let's continue where we left off~

Again the strong winds greeted us in the morning in Bursa, and we rose for breakfast and started packing our things to wrap up our stay in Bursa. When everything's ready, we threw everything into the boot of our rented car, father bought a few simit for the road, and we checked out of the hotel, and finally hit the road.

Uludag wasn't too far, though quite the climb up a mountain. On the way, we could see the view of the city below, buildings sprawling for miles. We stopped a few times at the side of the road to take some pictures, the best view being at a roadside restaurant (or cafe, I'm not too sure, but it wasn't opened yet) for it had a little deck in the open behind it. Then we proceeded up the mountain, and after being approved of our winter tyres, we reached an area where a layer of snow blanketed the ground!

It was little at first, but as we got higher, the beds of white snow grew thicker and thicker until we finally reached the top (after following a tour bus) and there were a handful of hotels, restaurants and cafes up there.. The trees and buildings were cloaked with a sheet of snow, likely from the light snowfall of the night before. As we got out, it got too cold too quick, thus we snuggled into our winter gear and got ready to face the snow!

Behind one of the restaurants was a slope where people can take the chairlift up to ski, or sled down the lower slope, or just pay around making snow angels, having your pictures taken by photographers. One of the photographers took a couple of pictures of the four of us and printed them. I daresay they looked brilliant! The photos were really high quality so we bought four of them, for 20 Turkish lira each.

Sledding was really tempting, but it's we scouted for my mother's relative, who had agreed to meet us there. We found her husband and sons first, playing in the snow, then found her and the rest of her sons in the restaurant, warming up near the fire in the middle of the room. I was relieved to be near the fire - my fingers were already so numb from the cold! My parents did some catching up with them as we ordered some food to enjoy before going out to play. When the hot chocolate arrived, we took a few pictures with it outside, enjoying the warm liquid in the cold.

After the meal, my dad, Yusuf, and I went outside to the slope. We didn't need a sled; a lot of people used plastic bags, so my dad found one for Yusuf. At first, he hesitated to go, but my mom's relative's children were there too so he wanted to try with them. After my dad helped him sit on the plastic bag at the top of the slope, he slid down the slope - started low, then higher and higher. He was scared at first, but after that he wanted to do it again and again and again.

Seeing his excitement, I wanted to join in too! My dad gave me a plastic bag and I climbed up thee slope with Yusuf, then we slid down together. It was really thrilling! And addicting too - we went for so many rounds, even bumping into people. My brother kept stopping in the middle to not bump into anyone but my dad keep saying to just let it be and bump into everyone in the way.

We went in a few times to warm up, then it's almost time to go home. We said goodbye to my mom's relatives as they had to leave first. My parents went to pray first and I looked after Yusuf and the bags. Shortly after they left the restaurant, my dad came back and told me to look outside - it's snowing! I was so excited and rushed out, taking videos of the light snow. It's the first snowfall I've ever witnessed! As I stayed outside, the snow got heavier and snow blew into my face.

I had to stay in again to look after the bags. My brother kept going to the door to catch snowflakes. When my parents were done, we all took a picture outside. It was really heavy snow now. I was so happy! Everything was already coated with a layer of snow. When we're all contented, we finally headed down the road.

The snow that we saw as we climbed up had melted, I think. There's no snow seen anywhere but the top now, and we were glad we went that day instead of the day before. There's hikmah behind everything indeed!

After that we went on our way to Kusadasi for about 5 hours, stopping a few times for toilet break and to buy coffee. It was raining the whole way. By the time we arrived at our Airbnb, it was already 10pm. The room we got was huge, with a living room, two bedrooms, a toilet, a dining area, and a kitchen, with all the utensils and cutlery. After prayers, we watched a little bit of TV, my mom did some work, I wrote on my blog, and we went to sleep.

That's all for now. Stay tuned for the next post!

Assalamualaikum!
