Oh, How I Love Books!
Assalamualaikum and welcome again!
Thank you all for reading this post. Today I'd like to write about my hobbies (mainly about how I love to read and write). If you view my complete profile, I have many interests. But all of them come from books. Storytelling, reading, writing, maths, science, mystery, adventure, even travelling, all come from books.
Well, let me do this one-by-one. Why do I like books? I don't like them, of course, but I LOVE them! So, why? I love books because it's fun to read. Well, I prefer fictional books over facts, but non-fictional (which are facts) books are very interesting. I love reading mystery and adventurous books with mind-boggling puzzles and riddles. I even kept a book about spies, breaking codes, and even a book about how to code and decode. I also love the adventurous books written by the famous authors Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl. My father recommended to me a couple of books written by Dan Brown and my mother's friend once lent me collections of books from Enid Blyton, Alfred Hitchcock, Nancy Drew series and so much more! Reading is so much fun, but now I am reading non-fictional books like discovering the living things on the planet and a history book about Khalid al-Walid. Still, they are interesting too.
Besides that I love writing books and stories myself. I kept many notebooks to write many different stories. But I have one problem. Everytime I write stories, it was easy to start the story, but I am no good at planning so I find it hard to get the inspiration of how the story should continue and how it should end. And that's when I find inspiration of a new story. That is why while you're reading this, I have about eight unfinished stories - some written and some not. And I still have many ideas of making other stories right now. As long as I live, I've only finished one book, and that was when I was 9. It's missing now and I can't remember where I saw it the last time. It was pretty short and uninteresting, but it was still able to be read.
When I read books, I feel like I am inside the book. I visualize the story, but not visualizing myself as the main character, but it's as if I am a cameraman filming a movie, or like I'm watching the movie. It feels like travelling too because it brings me to many different places like London, New York, Toronto, Mecca, China and so much more. Even made-up magical places and island in fantasy books are fun to "travel" to. I love travelling and always follow my parents travel. But this year is pretty limited since I have the exams. I have travelled to many places such as London, Spain, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and almost all the states in Malaysia. Books can bring us to many magical places, maybe at the same place but different time. If it is a book about time machines and stuff, it will bring you to either the past or the future. Wouldn't that be great!
The reason why I like non-fictional books now, is because they give me information about things I would like to know about. I love discovering unique and interesting facts about the living things in the world and the secrets of the universe. Weird findings, ancient science, theories about stars and planets, all of them! Although I know most of them are just theories, I still enjoy listening or reading about them. It's like a story. Sometimes it could funny, sometimes mysterious and unique, sometimes shocking and unbelievable and sometimes horrifically terrifying. My father gave me a couple of motivational books for me to read and understand. It really helped and I loved reading those books. The books taught me how the mind works and how it cannot tell the difference between reality and fantasy, which leads to the power of imagination. InshaAllah I will tell you about it in another post. I also have a Muslim life coaching book which is about setting goals and knowing what I truly want. That one is also a whole different story so not now.
Books are very special to me. They always give me inspiration and help me getting one step closer to my ambition, which is also a different story (sorry!). I think that's all for now. If you want to know more about me or the books that I have read, please leave a comment, thanks. Assalamualaikum.
Any recommendation?
ReplyDeleteHow about trying books in 'The Gideon Trilogy'? I've read the first book and am dying to buy the other two.
