A Day in Ankara

Image
Assalamualaikum and welcome to my second post of the day! We have finally arrived at our last stop, the capital city of Turkey, Ankara! In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel's breakfast buffet, later finding out that breakfast is not included with the room and ended up paying for it. Right after the breakfast, we got ready for our tour of the town. We hailed a taxi to our first stop in Ankara, the Anitkabir. Anita air is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who was the first president of the Republic of Turkey. The day was a bit cloudy and there was light rain when we arrived at the entrance of the Anitkabir. When we climbed up the steps, we saw a huge clearing in the middle, and a huge building where all the historical artefacts are housed. Entering the museum, there were a bunch of things that had belonged to Ataturk, who was the first president of Turkey after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. There were his swords, his garments, his cutlery set and so many others....

Trip to Ankara!

Image
Assalamualaikum, dear readers! I've skipped yet another day because I fell asleep early last night, so today there might be two posts. First about our departure from Konya to Ankara, then our first whole day in Ankara. Sunday morning, we woke up in Konya quite warm, since the heater has been on the whole night. My mom said it was pretty cold, but I slept without a blanket in days. Right after paraders, my dad, Yusuf and I wished my mom a big 'happy birthday'! That's right, it's her special day~! But we couldn't celebrate much that morning because we need to arrive in Ankara before 2pm to return our rental car. So right after breakfast at the hotel's buffet, we packed our things and departed at 10am. There's not much to record except that it has actually snowed the night before, so the parks were covered with a thin layer of snow. Not long after I got in the car, I fell asleep, so I couldn't see what was outside. About 3 hours later, we arrived a...

From Cappadocia to Konya

Image
Assalamualaikum, everyone! Welcome back to my blog, back for a new post about my journey in Turkey! Last time I told you about Cappadocia, this time we're about to leave for Konya, but not after visiting its valleys one last time. Saturday morning, the weather in Cappadocia was clear enough that we could see a bunch of hot air balloons gliding int he sky above us out the window. There were at least 20 of them high in the sky, with colourful patterns and burners blasting through the mouth of the balloons. It was very pretty considering that the sun was about to rise, though we couldn't see it because it was still a bit cloudy. Again, I climbed out the window to capture the beauty. SubhanAllah! Soon my whole family went out too. Now that the sky is in full view, there seems to be around 40 hot air balloons floating around to witness the sunrise. After watching them all settle at the other side of the hills, we headed to the breakfast buffet. It was exceptionally called ever ...

A Day in Cappadocia

Image
Assalamualaikum, everyone, and welcome back! This is a report of yet another day in Turkey, this time our first time in Cappadocia, famous for its hot air balloons and gorgeous valleys. Usually, there would be a whole sky full of hot air balloons during sunrise and sunset, but unfortunately the weather was not permissive, so that morning, we didn't wake up to hot air balloons dotting the sky. Instead, snowflakes started falling from the sky, just begging me to go outside! From the window, I could see an outdoor restaurant that must've been closed for the winter. The chairs and tables started to be coated with a layer of snow. Right after prayer, I pulled my winter jacket over my pyjamas and went outside through the door. I thought that maybe there was a way to the restaurant, because it also had a balcony overlooking the town. But there wasn't a way, so I had to go back in and escaped through the window. The snowfall was already heavy and it showed no signs of stopping...

A Day in Pamukkale

Image
Assalamualaikum, readers! You're reading another post about my journey around Turkey. This time, we have arrived at Pamukkale and slept for only one night. As the sun rises the next morning, a handful of hot air balloons dotted the sky viewed from our hotel room window. The colourful designs were amazing and we all enjoyed the sight! My father took pictures of it while he walked back from the mosque, and even after we got ready for the hotel breakfast buffet (at the floor just above us), there were still a few floating in the sky. Since the hotel was open air, we took photos on the stairs while the last hot air balloons passed. After a week of eating instant noodles, nasi impit or fried rice for breakfast, the variety of taste of the hotel breakfast was refreshing. It surprised me that there was no simit but I still had  delighting breakfast. We also found  few fellow Malaysians and discussed our travels. After breakfast, we started packing to leave for our next destina...
