Ending A New Year?

Image
Assalamualaikum, everyone! How I miss writing on here so much! First and foremost, alhamdulillah. All praises be to Allah for allowing me time to write again on this blog. How I'm just thrilled to tell you guys of the very busy year I've had. You might have noticed, of course, that I had a few attempts of writing travel logs, but unfortunately I did not give myself time to stretch my fingers on this keyboard and log on to this blog. I truly do miss this! Secondly, I am very sorry to say that I might not be continuing any of the travel logs mentioned. Other things had occupied my mind along with the memory of those wonderful moments that I could no longer recall any details. I apologize if any of you had been waiting for so long for the continuation. However, I have decided to make it up to you all. For the whole December school holidays, inshaAllah I will be travelling with my family all around Europe once again. I really hope this time I could at least stop and write...

Travelling Around Europe (Part 1)

Assalamualaikum, everyone! I am finally back once again after busy school weeks. I am very sorry for not updating or continuing any of my travels. unfortunately, I have forgotten the details for my last visit to Italy, so I might not continue. The rest of the visit was going to Florence and Rome, visiting the leaning tower of Pisa and the famous Roman Colosseum. Fun fact: I scraped my knee and torn my jeans a few yards away from the Roman Colosseum on my birthday. So for these two weeks, I will be in Europe. I have returned to Italy, this time with my grandparents with me. My father and Yusuf already went there last two months, if I'm not mistaken, and will be staying there until next year, when my mother comes back too. My school holidays is actually only for one week, but my teachers gave me permission to extend it. So here I am! Back in Milan! 4/7 Our flight was on Saturday night, about 10pm —but we mislooked and thought it was 11pm  – so my grandparents, uncle, aunt, litt...

Field Trip to Malacca

Assalamualaikum, eveyone! I am so, very, truly sorry for absence. It had been difficult this year, since I am new to secondary school and we had many projects and assignments to do. Thankfully, I am granted this time to tell you about my experience during our field trip to Malacca on Thursday the 19th of May. Early in the morning, around seven thirty, my cousin and I arrived at school. We were just in the nick of time, although when we entered the class, the Science Corner wasn't as full as usual. We figured all the girls were in the Muslimah Corner, so we brushed past the tables and chairs, and swept in to the Muslimah corner. Surely enough, the girls were all grouped there, packing their bags and chatting to each other. The teachers didn't arrive yet, so we waited. Moments later, someone said the boys had already gone outside. We were doubtful whether it's someone's order or not, but we followed them anyways. Our certainty increased when we saw Sir Rahma...

School Holidays: Italy! (Part V)

We arrived back in Milan when it was already dark. We took the Metro to Brenta to buy groceries at Carrefour. After buying those things, we walked to a little place called Chicken Cottage. It's Halal. My mother said it tastes like KFC. So we requested for takeaway for all the food and took a bus back to Zambala. We arrived at Zambala, all tired and weary and sleepy. We ate the Chicken Cottage food first. It was so delicious! It kind of  did  taste like KFC. Then we performed Maghrib and Isya' prayer, and I started this blog post.... The next day, I woke up to perform Fajr prayer, then continued this blog. My mother had to go to work. In th morning my father made Nasi Lemak for breakfast, but I didn't eat yet. My father and Yusuf ate first. WE also checked opened the balcony doors and played outside for a while. It must've been four or five degrees, because water vapor escaped our mouths when we breathe. After a few hours, Dad and Yusuf had gone back to sleep w...

School Holidays: Italy! (Part IV)

The next day, we rushed and hurried for breakfast, had some time to play on the balcony, my mother cooking food we'll bring to our trip, packing our clothes, pampers and bottles, taking some croissants from the lobby for a trip to..... Switzerland!  Yup, you guessed it. We went to the Swiss Alps! The journey began with us taking a Metro to Centrale FS, aka Milano Centrale Train Station, where there are trains to further destinations. We went on the train to Tirano, a two-hour trip halfway to Switzerland. We boarded the train, and exited. Dogs. My mother insisted for another coach since two dogs were in front of us. So we entered another coach, and I unwrapped the croissants, and munched. I don't know why but I eat more than usual here than in Malaysia. We didn't do much in the train. We chatted, enjoyed the view, ate, slept and chased Yusuf in the corridors. Five minutes. The duration between our arrival in Tirano and the departure of our next train going to S...

School Holidays: Italy! (Part III)

I woke up next morning by he sound of my parents' voices waking me up to perform Fajr prayer. It was peaceful and quiet at that time of the morning. All four of us were awake, so we opened the balcony door for the first time, wearing jackets, socks, and shoes to keep warm, playing in the cold breeze. Yusuf kept pointing to the cranes since he wasn't awake to see it the day before. He was stubborn and didn't want to wear his winter coat. We took some pictures outside, too. My mother was inside making breakfast. I can't remember everything that we ate, but what I do remember is eating Nasi Lemak ala Milan, homemade. It was very delicious. Oh yes! I remembered that we ate coconut Lempeng before that. Mmm! Then we got ready to go, packing some things to bring with us, and took an underground train to Duomo. My mother said that Duomo is like a park, but when we arrived, it was more than that. It's actually a huge old cathedral in the middle of a big open square...

School Holidays: Italy! (Part II)

At last, the moment we've been waiting for, the arrival in Italy! It wasn't really pleasant. My father had a splitting headache and couldn't take care of Yusuf, so I did it while waiting an hour or so for my mother. All my brother did was wandering about in the airport, curiously staring at thing that spark his interest. He stopped at times to eat or take pictures with my dad, but he just wouldn't stay put. A few minutes later, I showed him a picture of himself on my dad's phone. He laughed at it, joined by another voice. He was startled and stared at the source of the voice. It was my mother. Yusuf stared as if trying to remember something and was slow to succeed. My mother led us to a train which brought us to Milano Centrale. There, we took another train that brought us to Lodi TIBB, nearest station to whee my mother is temporarily staying. My father used a baby carrier my mom borrowed from a friend in Malaysia to carry Yusuf more conveniently. He d...

School Holidays: Italy! (Part I)

I sigh as I stare beyond the dark night sky lit by the lights of the calm and quiet city. The cool breeze hit my face gently, the air of early spring approaching very soon. What's the temp, four? Five degrees Celsius? I don't know. I sweep myself inside, leaving the balcony door open for the cold air to enter, since I don't know how to turn on the air-conditioner. On the table lay my mother's laptop I borrow to write my blog. About this new place and surroundings. What, I didn't tell you? Assalamualaikum everyone and welcome to....(drumroll) Italy!  Yes, I am now currently in Milan, Italy, about 14 hours away from home. Reason? a) My mother is working there for a year, b) It's the school holidays, and c) We want to travel again. It had been, what, three years? Yup, three years since I went overseas. Since I travel to another country. The last one was Australia. Remember that post? That was in 2013! Wow, it had been a very long time now. Anyway,...

Sports Month

Assalamualaikum everyone! A few days ago, there was a Sports Day event following a special month. Today I will talk about.. Sports Month February. February is Sports Month at Sri Ayesha and everyone was divided into houses. There are four houses; red, yellow, green and blue. Everyone must enter games, either novelty, netball (girls), football (boys), field and lots of others to choose from. Kind of hard though. I'm in the blue house team and we were initially second in rank after the red team, then we fell fourth place, yellow seizing the lead. Well, I still had fun, even though we lost most games so far, and some seniors had a misunderstanding a few weeks ago. All the house teams have problems, and the only same problem they have is the team cheer. Some people come up with their own cheer, but some parodied songs and edited some words to be motivational. We used short cheers before we start a game. Cheering is purposeful to motivate the players, get your hop...

Student Representative Council

Assalamualaikum and welcome! I really hope you don't leave me since I haven't wrote for so long. Today I have a topic about... Student Representative Council President Basically, about SRC. We just had an SRC president election today, but we don't know who won yet. So in this post, I'd like to write what I know and my opinions about the position. First and foremost, there are seven different candidates. Each have different personalities and character traits, and they each have different views and opinions about being an SRC president. Each of them had given a speech on stage in front of the whole secondary students and teachers. All my life, I've never understood what the Student Representative Council do. I thought it must have no difference with prefects. But of course, I was wrong. The SRCs do more than that. A friend told me that the SRCs have to manage the school, events, food, equipment, trips, facilities, discipline and behaviors of student...

Clueless Cases (Chapter 6): The Broken Glass

Everyone gasped after hearing the news about the death of Mr. Dunston. Cliff immediately immersed himself in a deep thought. "How?" Cleo whispered without any real reason. Ivy shrugged, her solemn face turned expressionless. "How should I know? The sergeant only sent some of his people a few minutes ago." Cliff suddenly jerked his head up, a somber look showing on his thin face, mingled with realization. "What if -," he began, but a coming officer stopped him in his tracks. The officer looked younger and less experienced than the others, a weary smile was carved on his lips. He wasn't fit like all the other officers the children knew, but not too skinny either. His auburn hair lay flat under his cap and his electric green eyes twinkled, displaying a hint of enthusiasm. "Hi," he greeted as he approached the group. "Sergeant Simerwell sent me to get you." Cliff and the others didn't move. "Is the ...

Happy New Year!

Assalamualaikum and welcome again (for a long time), readers! Alhamdulillah we already entered a fresh new year 2016! I wish all of you a happy new year and may all of you achieve your goals for 2016. I am very sorry for being so late to update my blog! I barely have a chance (although I really wanted to show the pictures took in Port Dickson), ut now I'm here and I'm going to tell you all about my new year. As you may know we started going to school on the 4th of January 2016. When I woke up with my cousin, I wasn't in the mood to go to school after a long holiday. We were actually quite nervous and excited to enter our new class, Dar-Izzah, a class that follows the Cambridge O-Level Examinations syllabus. There were about thirty students when we arrived, forming a circle on the floor of an enormous classroom that looks more like a restaurant with a kitchen cabinet at the back. Even the front door was grand. When we excused ourselves to put our bags and shoe...
