Field Trip to Malacca
Assalamualaikum, eveyone!
I am so, very, truly sorry for absence. It had been difficult this year, since I am new to secondary school and we had many projects and assignments to do. Thankfully, I am granted this time to tell you about my experience during our field trip to Malacca on Thursday the 19th of May.
Early in the morning, around seven thirty, my cousin and I arrived at school. We were just in the nick of time, although when we entered the class, the Science Corner wasn't as full as usual. We figured all the girls were in the Muslimah Corner, so we brushed past the tables and chairs, and swept in to the Muslimah corner. Surely enough, the girls were all grouped there, packing their bags and chatting to each other. The teachers didn't arrive yet, so we waited.
Moments later, someone said the boys had already gone outside. We were doubtful whether it's someone's order or not, but we followed them anyways. Our certainty increased when we saw Sir Rahman along with the boys outside. After wearing our shoes, we girls lined up as Sir Rahman told us to do so. Teacher Hasni arrived not long after, walking towards us. The teachers handed out some kind of worksheet to everyone. Apparently, we had answer the questions based on what we learned from the field trip. Quite dissatisfied, we kept the sheets in our bags and waited for further orders.
A few minutes later, we marched towards our bus. There were three buses; one is Dar-Izzah's (ours), one is for the Form 4 students and the other one is Form 3. All three buses were going to Malacca, though the one with Form 3 were going to a different destination than Dar-Izzah and Form 4. The very cool conditioned air greeted us as we climbed aboard our bus. ALl the girls took their seats at the back and the boys at the front. It was initially very comfortable. Initially.
Breakfast (sandwiches and curry puffs) were handed out in the bus. One of my friends gave me some sweets, so I ate them first. Right after that, I ate my sandwiches and curry puff. I had a big appetite that day.
The whole trip wasn't actually comfortable. At first, yes, it was cool. Then the bus grew warmer then my skin started to become moist with sweat. The air-conditioner wasn't actually working. Suddenly, the bus pulled over to the side. All of us swarmed to wards the left-side windows to see what was happening. Well, I didn't, so I asked the ones who did. They said there was a puncture, but I didn't think so. There wasn't any loud 'BOOM', so I figured the tyre must be out of air.
We continued our journey later on. My friends and I passed the time reading books, playing games and singing songs so that we wouldn't get bored. It was really fun.
Finally, we arrived at our first destination, Masjid Al-Azim. It was a big mosque with a build of Chinese architecture, most noticeably the roofs. Not long after, the Form 4 students arrived. We waited a few minutes outside to claim our tickets. It was a very hot day indeed. It felt like sweat was pouring out of us, like we were squeezed until all the water in our body went out (ew, gross). Fortunately, we were later welcomed inside, the cool air caressing us.
I was completely fascinated to see ancient technologies scattered everywhere in the room. As I've mentioned before, we had an assignment, so we answered the questions in the sheet while gathering information about the inventions. When we went deeper inside, we could see the replica of the cover of Prophet Muhammad's Maqam. It was really beautiful, and smooth. Deeper still, there's a room where all the ancient artifacts of the Prophet's time, belonging to family and companions of the Prophet and the Prophet himself, were displayed in glass containers.
There was the Prophet's hair, footprint, the key of the Ka'aba, the companions' swords, artifacts of the Prophet's grandchildren, Hasan and Husin, and many more. It was wonderful to stand there and gain much more information and knowledge about the Prophet, even though you have an assignment to do.
My friend took picture of the artifacts and explanations, so we settled somewhere on the floor and started using the photos for reference to draw those artifacts and answer some other questions. It was only both of us at first, but one by one, other friends started to join us when they're finished.
Long after, the teacher called us to perform Dhuha prayer. We obediently followed them to the main mosque and prayed. This part of the mosque was very big! Then we heard that we would be going to another place, so we got very excited. When we're done, we waited outside for the bus, taking pictures and chatting while doing so. It was really fun! The Form 4 went first since their bus was already there, but we had to wait for ours.
(I'll update this soon. It won't be another post, but I'll edit this one. Stay tuned~!)
