First Year at UCL (part 1)

Image
Assalamualaikum, readers old and new! As you know from my last post, if you read it, I haven't finished my life recap! Now this section of my life deserved a post of its own (well, two post, hopefully). I ended the last post with the day I finally flew across the globe to the city many of our little old ladies would mention when talking about sending their children overseas - that's right, it's no other than London! (This information may be inaccurate.) It was a comfortable flight, alhamdulillah, but I would probably say differently if my parents didn't have enough points to upgrade my seat. It was my first flight alone though, and arriving at Heathrow was a little nerve-wracking; I kept checking my passport and travel documents, in case they slipped out of my firmly zipped and secure bag. Who knows what might've happened, right? I had arranged accommodation beforehand with KY super-seniors (a few batches above me whom I never met before coming to London), and alha...

A Leap into a New Chapter (where have I been the last 2 years?!)

Image
Assalamualaikum, readers old and new! I am once again attempting to clear the cobwebs on this 'web'page, as it has metaphorically grown into, and penning (typing, more like) my first blog post in two years! And guess what? It's the 10th year anniversary of My Journey! Picture little Khadijah at 9 years old, excitedly typing with only her index fingers, painfully slowly too, about her very first travel - the post that kickstarted this whole series of journeys I have embarked on, both in body and spirit. Now picture her 10 years later; let me help you with that. Here I am, 19 years old, sailing through quite the challenging journey of dark storms and great tides - here I am thousand of miles away from home, in London. You heard (um, read) that right. Somehow, sometime in late September, I stepped on that plane in synchrony with a leap into a fresh chapter of my life: university. Alhamdulillah, right now I am relaxing after finishing my first year (yep, I finished my FIRST YEA...

KYUEM - Induction Week!

Image
Assalamualaikum, friends! Today is Sunday. one day right after the end of my induction programme in my new college, KYUEM! That's right. I'm officially a college student now. I'll tell you everything about it (except for the things that should be kept secret from future juniors!). Tuesday morning, my parents and I hauled all my stuff into the boot of the car. Only my parents went with me because it was 6.30 in the morning, my brother was asleep and my grandparents would go see me later in the week. It wasn't too dark outside as we departed. Lembah Beringin was about over an hour from Bangi, so we expected to arrive at around 8 - 8.30am. Along the way, I took some shut eye and we stopped for breakfast at an R&R. I ate nasi lemak and took a soya bean milk. I didn't feel too nervous actually, but I was hoping that I gain some friends this week. Then we continued on the road and arrived around 8.40am. There were already a lot of people - seniors, juniors, paren...

Back From Turkey!

Image
Assalamualaikum and a happy new year, everyone! I hope 2020 blesses you and your family with happiness and success! I have returned to Malaysia after our long travel around Turkey, and I've actually been back Wednesday night so this post is a bit overdue. I needed to regain my energy a bit before writing a little summary of our trip. I've missed being home where it's warm, but my A/C decided to be warmer than usual so we'll hopefully get that fixed. Also, I'm only two days away from my admission to college! How exciting yet nerve-wracking. In a span of 14 days, my parents, Yusuf and I had travelled across over 10 provinces of Turkey, stayed in 7 beautiful locations, and travelled almost 2,500 kilometres in total from Istanbul to Ankara. The trip had taught us many things as Turkey was a nation rich with history, from when it was under the control of Greeks, to the Byzantine Era, to the Ottoman Empire and to the beginning of the Republic of Turkey. This country ...

A Day in Ankara

Image
Assalamualaikum and welcome to my second post of the day! We have finally arrived at our last stop, the capital city of Turkey, Ankara! In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel's breakfast buffet, later finding out that breakfast is not included with the room and ended up paying for it. Right after the breakfast, we got ready for our tour of the town. We hailed a taxi to our first stop in Ankara, the Anitkabir. Anita air is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who was the first president of the Republic of Turkey. The day was a bit cloudy and there was light rain when we arrived at the entrance of the Anitkabir. When we climbed up the steps, we saw a huge clearing in the middle, and a huge building where all the historical artefacts are housed. Entering the museum, there were a bunch of things that had belonged to Ataturk, who was the first president of Turkey after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. There were his swords, his garments, his cutlery set and so many others....

Trip to Ankara!

Image
Assalamualaikum, dear readers! I've skipped yet another day because I fell asleep early last night, so today there might be two posts. First about our departure from Konya to Ankara, then our first whole day in Ankara. Sunday morning, we woke up in Konya quite warm, since the heater has been on the whole night. My mom said it was pretty cold, but I slept without a blanket in days. Right after paraders, my dad, Yusuf and I wished my mom a big 'happy birthday'! That's right, it's her special day~! But we couldn't celebrate much that morning because we need to arrive in Ankara before 2pm to return our rental car. So right after breakfast at the hotel's buffet, we packed our things and departed at 10am. There's not much to record except that it has actually snowed the night before, so the parks were covered with a thin layer of snow. Not long after I got in the car, I fell asleep, so I couldn't see what was outside. About 3 hours later, we arrived a...
