I'm Back! (Summary of 2017 So Far)
Assalamualaikum, everyone!
It's been so long (and this blog is getting dustier, covered in all these cobwebs) and I missed blogging so much! Alhambdulillah, all praises to Allah for giving me the opportunity to write right now!
First things first. Thank you guys for still reading my posts. You guys are the best. Second, happy new year (even though it's almost February)! I thought of blogging on New Year's Eve, but I was on a plane; I'll tell the story in another post. I hope this wonderful 2017, I will be able to blog about everything I want you all to know about and find time to write. In shaa Allah, I'll have more time blogging every day now that I have a fixed home timetable. Every day is going to be a fun journey!
Well, now that we're three wekks into the new year, let me tell you about the events after the new year first before jumping into the travels and journeys in Europe during the one-month school holidays.
This year is my second year in Dar-Izzah, and I am now among the 8th graders. Yes, clearly we have juniors now, and we have to be responsible for them as the 9th graders need to focus on their examinations. Our new students this year - all sixteen of them - are not that difficult to take care of. They only need help and guidance during the start as they're new to the class routines, but they catch up pretty well. I've already made friends with most of them, not to mention one of them is someone I've known for six years. Besides students, we also have new teachers; Sir Arif and Teacher Nina.
Orientation week was awesome. All of the ten days were filled with fun activities, outdoors and indoors, with respective topics each day. Some were activities involving Dar-Izzah routines, and others about our 7 Habits. It's great to revise all these things again. There's also community work (my favorite activity; gotta love chopping them watermelons) and there's a lot of presentation involved. It was fun!
The last two weeks was overall exhausting. Every evening, I had volleyball practice for the competition on the 24th of January. Well, we didn't win, but we were happy we tried. Though we barely reached ten points to 31, it's still a miracle that we even get points. The other teams were friendly, especially the school that we first competed with. They cheered for us during our second game (even though it didn't make much difference).
Ah, yes. There's also the 8th and 9th graders' first assignment of the year; compiling notes, journals and diagrams from the subject files for the upcoming PTC day on the 11th of February. Teacher Nafeesa gave us one night to do it, but most of us failed to achieve it, so there was a little punishment, and a little bit of disagreement, but we all accepted it in the end as it is a "win-win situation". I don't really mind a half-page summary of the fifth cycle of 2016 and presenting it, but the excitement of disagreeing and objecting got me a little jumpy.
Also, last two weeks, we had Qiyam during the weekends. THere was a bit of an ugly situation in the morning, but it was settled. And last weekends, I attended the HMM5k, a programme where the Muslimat Muda PAS assembled for speeches from representatives of all the states of Malaysia. It was wonderful, and their speeches were so inspiring.
I guess that's it for the summary of 2017 so far. We only started lessons last week, and I'm an 8th grader now. Thanks for reading this! I really hope you don't get bored by my lack of will to post something, because I'm gonna try my best to stick to my schedule. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next posts! I'll blog about my holidays!
